TITLE OF SHOW:  The Great Internet Debate (“TGID”)

LOGLINE:  “With all of this information at our fingertips...

HOW  Can We The People

"Become more Knowledgeable and Accountable?”

The internet provides a vast amount of information, however, knowledge of substantive data is at an all time low.  The general reason for this discrepancy is that the general public (hereinafter “The People”) lacks the time and patience necessary to retrieve and process the wealth of available information.  The mainstream media presents the daily news as a drama, in order to gain ratings, to the detriment of the distribution of facts and the fear feeding is at an all time high.   As The People troll for information, opinions are formed and then shared as facts on social media websites. Thus, the majority of information dispersed is false which is detrimental to society. As a Democratic Republic, each citizen receives a vote, however, it cannot be a well informed vote if The People are not acquainted with the facts.  In order to accomplish this goal, less frivolous, and more factual, information should be presented for general consumption.  Easier access to facts will lead to greater accountability and the furtherance of the greater good of society.

We, The People, deserve a New Platform for Our Voices to be heard!

TREATMENT:  This show seeks to provide factual, and easily digestible, news with the proven comic twist that is so allowed in the realm of political reality shows.  The show will be broken down into three rounds: 1) The Fundraising Round, 2) The Primary Election Round, and 3) The General Election Round. The topics will involve those covered by the local, national and global news.  The results of these mindful discussions will reflect the vote by The People, for the benefit of The People.

A vote will then be held to decide the winning team from each round.

The Vote:  from The People will be comprised of a panel of guest celebrity judges, the studio audience and viewers at home, via the internet, and they will vote for the team whom they believe has formulated the correct hypothesis and successfully substantiated same.  A running tabulation of percentages will serve to report the public consensus and rank the teams.  All of the questions, hypothesis, supporting evidence, including citations, and voting results will be posted on the show’s website. Additionally, the results of each round of voting will be broken down to reflect what percentage each team received from the Voters.

The goal of this show is factual entertainment, as it will give The People valuable information in a game show debate format by The People for The People to Vote on while the issue is HOT.

This new platform will foster an open discussion on the hot topics of the day.  The show will have multiple purposes, including (1) the demonstration of debatable communication in order to clarify various viewpoints, opinions and traditions; (2) the education of the masses with pertinent and factual information in easily digestible doses; and, (3) the provision of the contemporaneous pulse of The People which has the ability to aid lawmakers in their decision making processes.

FACT CHECKING TEAM:  Only the best team will be formed and assist with checking with other fact checking groups and data to confirm any all information is factual prior to posting on our site in order to keep the show true to its format. Fact Finding Format.

TEAMS and AUDIENCE:  2016 is an election year, thus different teams can easily be comprised of factions, such as Democrats vs. Republicans, Left vs. Right, Race vs. Race, Homosexual vs. Heterosexual, Judicial vs. Enforcement, etc. Ideally, political pundits will make cameo appearances on the show. In order to reach a younger audience, the show could travel to university campus towns across the American and set up mobile studios thus capturing the pulse of the younger generation.

Voting: On-site voting capabilities will be necessary for the studio audience to cast their individual votes.  Viewers on the East Coast will also cast their vote live.  In order to capture the pulse of people in both the Midwest and on the West Coast, we will assemble a mini-Electoral College consisting of a minimum of 100 “home viewers” who will watch live streaming video and then cast their votes.  All viewers casting their votes from home will be required to create a username and password in order to login online during a pre-set time.  This time will be based on Eastern Standard Time.

Including : Internet Polls, Home Viewers vote,  Live Audience Vote & the Electoral College vote will all be tallied.

FUNDRAISING – Round #1.  (14 minutes, including introductions) Random Current/Historical Event Questions. Answer Correctly Earning Points. Herein, teams will compete to earn points by answering questions on controversial topics.  There will be a minimum of ten (10) questions asked with a minimum value of ten (10) points each, and a percentage will be generated.  Audience Participation will be able to be solicited during this round.  At the request of a team, two (2) questions may be answered by the studio audience and via an electronic polling vote.  Any team who requests help from the audience will earn only half of the points that question is worth.

Celebrity Game Show Judges: The Contestants must persuade all of the judges that their hypothesis is correct.  The judges will consist of a rotating panel of “special guests” who will interject their thoughts before each round of voting and offer commentary and endorsement after the conclusion of each debate round.

The Moderator: The Moderator will allow for the teams to openly discuss topics in a debate style.  This style will use a “back and forth” format, differences of opinions will be discussed and the veracity of same questioned.   Respect and decorum must be maintained at all times to protect the integrity of the show. Demerits will be issued for “poor form”, which will include, but will not be limited to, ill will and cursing.  In the event that time provides, a limited number of questions will be taken from, and asked by, members of the Studio Audience.  (Ideas for the Moderator are TV personalities such as Samuel L Jackson, Bill Maher , Jon Stewart and/or D.L Hughley .)

STREET NEWS:  Factual Entertainment will hit the streets when the Moderator will then ask general public on camera questions about current events regarding thefocus of the show for that day and see what the general public have to say about current hot topics whether it be on point or way off target,

We The People will then we bring the questions into the studio for a real debate to unfold in

The Great Internet Debate.

PRIMARY ELECTION - Round #2. (15 minutes) Ongoing Hot Topics & Statement of Viewpoints to garner attention and help sway the voting audience. Contestants will have thorough discussions of the topics presented.  These discussions will include facts, opinions, traditions, and hypotheses.  Topics will include, but will not be limited to: politics in general, elections, voting, Congress, government term limits, government spending, taxes, trade imbalances, tariffs on trade, unemployment, made in the USA, the stock market, healthcare reform, education, social policies, abortion, Planned Parenthood, mental illness, veteran affairs, the military, war, cannabis, gun control, school shootings, cops, lives matter, science, global warming, fracking, energy, alternatives, etc.

GENERAL ELECTION - Round #3.
(15 Minutes) Teams will support their Round 2 arguments by citing factual evidence found online. These searches will provide the opportunity to promote sponsors such as various search engine and media companies, as well as the technology used to procure the information such as IBM, Windows, Apple, Android, Samsung, etc.  All technological devices used to garner information will be provided on set by our Sponsors, no “outside” devices are allowed.

Three websites have been purchased for the purpose of launching this show.  These websites are: www.TheGreatInternetDebate.com, www.AccountabilityAge.com, and  www.TheAccountabilityAge.com.

Conclusion:  We’ve surpassed the Information Age & have entered into the Accountability Age. Finding information and discovering the truth is tedious, however, it is imperative to the concept of accountability.  The Great Internet Debate will take the hot topics of the day, verify and synthesize available information, and disseminate same to The People.  Those who avail themselves of these manageable doses of knowledge will further the concept of accountability as they will make informed decisions when they converse, post to social media, and vote at the polls, all of which will ultimately result in influencing the actions of lawmakers.  Thus, The Great Internet Debate will offer an enhanced entertainment product while providing a valuable public service.
